| I was born and raised
in Columbus. Indiana. Columbus is in the top ten in architecture
in the country, hard to believe that a town with under 50,000
people could do that. Anyway, I grew up around art and have
always been interested in it. I was scribbling on paper (and
walls) at an early age with everything that could leave a
mark. When I was not outside, I was inside drawing with my
younger brother, Ben. We drew animals, people, cars, robots,
action figures, cartoons, anything we could think of. One
would think that I would be sick of drawing.
When I got into high school, I excelled in my art classes
and took every one available. We were taught many different
kinds of ways to create art, but out of all of them I really
still enjoyed drawing. My senior year, I talked to my cousin
who had similar interests but was already out there working
for Warner Bros. as a set designer. He asked me what I really
wanted to do. When he told me that you could draw on computers,
I was very excited. So, in 1994, I enrolled at Indiana University
Bloomington and pursued a career in Studio Art with emphasis
on Graphic Design. IU has a great art school, so broad in
what you can do. Again, I was finding myself taking every
art class that I could. Drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics,
then Graphic Design. I even received a minor in art history
while I was there. When I saw the power of design that one
could do on the computer with great programs, I loved it.
I was also becoming more interested in technology and computers
at the same time. I taught myself the Macintosh operating
system and troubleshooting so I could fix my own problems
and help others. I found myself helping a lot of people in
my design classes with design programs and troubleshooting.
To sum it all up, I am here today doing what I feel I have
always wanted to do, that is being creative in all media's,
and life.
